BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

People packed a small church in Grosse Tete to say their final goodbyes to a pregnant woman who was shot at her home last week.

Authorities say 29-year old Brittney Mills was shot and killed after she opened her front door last Saturday. Detectives believe a man asked to use Mills's car, but shot and killed her when she refused. Mills was rushed to a hospital where she later died.

Doctors managed to save her unborn child for a time, but despite their best efforts, he died Friday.

Saturday, it was standing room only at New Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Cameras were not allowed inside, but WAFB did speak to Rev. Anthony Royal, who is the pastor of the church. Royal said without Mills it has been unease for family members, but knows there are better days to come.

"They are very sad and very disappointed," said Royal. "But, the only thing we can do is to call to the lord and put the burden on him and he will take care of it."
