Police: Gun sale posted on social media ends with armed robbery

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A post on social media that led to an armed robbery sparked an Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office investigation.

According to APSO Sheriff Jeff Wiley, the victim posted an ad to social media websites, advertising an AR-15 assault rifle for sale. On Wednesday, April 29, the victim met with a potential buyer, who was later learned to be Tyewayne Morris.

The victim says that Morris asked to test fire the weapon at a secluded location. Police say that after firing once, Morris turned the gun on the victim and demanded money from his wallet. Morris allegedly threatened to harm the victim if he reported the incident to the authorities.

Police were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Morris, and during an investigation of his home, found the assault rifle.

Morris is described as a black male, 5'10" and weighs approximately 145 pounds.
