41-year-old man arrested on drug distribution charges

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Livingston Parish sheriff's officers have arrested a man suspected of selling illegal narcotics.

Perry Bennett, 41, was arrested on Friday after officers found an ounce of crack cocaine and a half ounce of marijuana on Bennett's person.

Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard says that Bennett "has an extensive narcotics arrest history," and has been under investigation for drug-related crimes.

Bennett, also known as "Popeye", was charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule I and II drugs, and is being held in the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
