BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A pair of tax measures proposed by the St. George Fire District highlights several big issues voters will weigh-in on Saturday.
Officials want residents to approve the measures that would renew a tax that expires this year. The second proposal is a new two mill tax.
According to officials, both are intended to pay for capital improvements and the department's day-to-day operations.
In Livingston Parish, voters will be asked to consider a health unit tax that they rejected only a few months ago.
Officials have cut the proposal in half and are now asking for a 2.5 mill property tax. It would generate $1.3 million a year.
