BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana State Police arrested a woman on Wednesday for fraud, forgery, and theft charges.
An investigation into complaints to a state Insurance Fraud Unit led police to arrest 41-year-old Cassandra Bickham. Bickham allegedly filed three insurance claim requests.
The first was for short term disability, with Bickham receiving about $36,000 in benefits over three years. An investigation showed that Bickham submitted altered and forged documents, says Louisiana State Police.
The second claim was for a stolen car radio which Bickham claimed $2,175 in stolen equipment. An investigation revealed the submission of fraudulent documentation.
Police say that in April 2014, Bickham filed a third insurance complaint for alleged hail damage to her car totaling $4,120. That investigation showed that the damage reported was made by hand, and was not consistent with damage caused by hail.
Bickham was arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Wednesday. Her bond is set at $24,500.
