WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

The parish president in West Baton Rouge says they got lucky that most of the damage from Monday's storms missed them.

Besides one mobile home park being blocked by trees, downed power lines were the worst of what the storm left behind.

Parish employees say the area on LA 1 always gets hit the hardest when the winds are moving.

Several power lines snapped and fell over. One car was trapped between the power lines.

Workers at the Waffle House on LA 1 say things were pretty scary there for 15 to 20 minutes.

"We had a store full of customers whenever winds started hitting. We had to move all the customers to the other side of the store cause the windows started flexing," said Ellis Dardar, a cook at the Waffle House.

Dardar says things got so bad that water started coming in through the window sills.

WBR Parish President Riley Berthelot says Entergy started working earlier Monday afternoon to fix the downed lines. Crews have marked water and gas lines so new poles can be put up.
