BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The city of Baton Rouge has received a check for damages from an ex-BRPD cop who crashed a police cruiser into the LSU lakes.

9News Investigators have uncovered new documents that show the city-parish billed Byron Boudreaux in March for more than $93,000 for his Chevy Impala that was totaled in the September crash.

A memo from parish attorney's office dated April 21st, shows Boudreaux cut a check for $83,000 after a nearly month-long settlement negotiation.

Boudreaux resigned after he admitted to crashing the car while taking a late night joy ride with a civilian passenger.

Internal investigation documents show he had been drinking prior to the crash, but was under the legal limit. He was never cited.
