BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Louisiana Department of Corrections hosted a special program on Thursday in order to address survivors of crime and violence, and the rights they have.
The program was held to observe National Crime Victim's Rights Week. Featured speakers included Nancy Stern, whose daughter was murdered in 2007 by her husband.
"Victims don't have to be victims forever," said Stern. "There is a place where you can to come out of being a victim and you can talk about it. You can help other people and that's our goal right now."
Crime survivors and family members of crime victims can register with the Crime Victims Services Bureau by downloading a registration form at www.doc.la.gov
