PORT ALLEN, LA (WAFB) - The Louisiana State Police arrested three people on various narcotics charges and came across several pounds of illegal drugs during two separate traffic stops on I-10 in West Baton Rouge Parish.
Troopers pulled over a 2008 Buick Enclave that was traveling eastbound on I-10 west of LA Hwy 415 for a traffic violation before 7 p.m. on April 19. 50-year-old Carl Green, of Yemassee, SC, was arrest and charged with improper lane usage and possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics after troopers found about 27 pounds of cocaine in a hidden compartment of the SUV.
Troopers also pulled over a 2015 Ford Fusion that was traveling eastbound on I-10 near LA Hwy 1 for a traffic violation before 2:30 a.m. on April 20.
The driver, 34-year-old Terence C. Jones, Jr. of New Orleans, and his passenger, 19-year-old Jasmine Rhea of Algiers, were arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics after about 18 pounds of marijuana were found in the vehicle. Troopers also found about $5,500 in cash.
Jones was also charged with improper lane usage.
In both cases, a State Police K-9 alerted the Troopers to the presence of drugs in the vehicles. All three were booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish jail.
