BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The excitement is building in Baton Rouge with the LSU and Texas A&M series starting Thursday night at Alex Box Stadium.

The Tigers (34-6, 12-5) and Aggies (35-5, 12-5) are once again at the top of the polls and tied for the SEC West lead.

LSU took over the No. 1 spot in D1 Baseball's Top 25, moving ahead of Texas A&M (No. 2).

LSU also moved ahead of the Aggies to take the No. 1 spot in Baseball America's Top 25 (Texas A&M is No. 2).

The Tigers moved up two spots to claim the No. 1 ranking in this week's Collegiate Baseball Top 30 Poll (Texas A&M fell to No. 4).

LSU is ranked No. 1 in this week's Perfect Game Top 25  and the Aggies are ranked No. 2.

The Tigers started the week with an 11-2 victory against Lamar before traveling to rainy Athens to face the Georgia Bulldogs. The Tigers took a double-header from Georgia Saturday, winning game one, 4-1 and game two, 9-1. Game three was canceled due to heavy rains.

LSU will play host to Tulane Tuesday night at Alex Box Stadium (6:30 p.m.) before the Aggies arrive for a three-game series beginning Thursday night at 6:30 p.m.
