Archaeologist Salima Ikram to speak at Louisiana Art & Science Museum

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The Louisiana Art and Science Museum will host a lecture with with renowned archaeologist, author and professor Salima Ikram.

Ikram is the founder of the Animal Mummy Project at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and a world-leading expert on animal mummies and Egyptian funerary archaeology.

Ikram's lecture will focus ancient Egyptian animal mummies. The lecture will discuss different types of animal mummies, how and why they were made, what each type meant to the ancient Egyptians and how they influence our views of ancient Egyptians.

The lecture will take place on April 20th from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Admission to the lecture is free.
