LSU's 2015 recruiting class ranked No. 1 after Sampson's commitment

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Madison Prep star Brandon Sampson has committed to the LSU Tigers.

The 4-star shooting guard averaged 15.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists this past season. He is listed at No. 39 in the ESPNU Top 100 and No. 41 by Rivals.

Sampson will join five-star commitments Ben Simmons and Antonio Blakeney. New Orleans native Craig Victor will also join the Tigers after transferring from the University of Arizona.

"We are excited about the addition of Brandon Sampson to our basketball team," said LSU men's basketball Coach Johnny Jones. "Brandon has the ability to score efficiently from all three levels. He can shoot the three, score from mid-range and because of his athleticism he is able to finish plays at the rim. He has the uncanny ability of making other people around him better. We look forward to Brandon making an immediate impact with our program."

Sampson picked LSU over St. John's, Oklahoma State, USC, Texas A&M and Cal.

With Sampson's commitment, LSU's 2015 class moved ahead of Kentucky and is currently ranked No. 1 by 247Sports.
