BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Veterans, low-income, and elderly Baton Rouge citizens will receive help in remodeling and repairing their homes through Rebuilding Together Baton Rouge.
RTBR is teaming up with ExxonMobil this year as part of the Rebuilding Together movement. The remodels are sponsored by local corporations who provide volunteers who specialize in plumbing, painting, and electrical work.
Teams involved in the Rebuilding Together movement are responsible for over 10,000 nationwide repairs and remodels annually. The Baton Rouge branch is responsible for over 160 of those projects.
The Baton Rouge branch starts operations every April. "We believe that everyone should have a safe decent place to live," says RTBR Executive Director Chris Andrews.
On Friday, a mother of three who lives on Beechwood Drive had her home remodeled by ExxonMobil volunteers. "I felt like a giant," the homeowner said, "I felt so blessed."
Volunteers will continue on projects throughout the week. More information can be found at http://www.rebuildingtogetherbatonrouge.org/
