Coroner's Office identifies man who drowned in pond

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Officials have released the name of the man who drowned in a pond Wednesday.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office identified the victim as Russel Shetters, 72. An autopsy Thursday revealed he had drowned accidentally.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said a body was found in a pond in the Deer Lake subdivision, which is off O'Neal Lane, around 10 a.m. Wednesday.

A neighbor in the area claimed to have seen something floating in the pond. The person got into a boat and paddled out.

The resident realized it was a body and called the sheriff's office.
