BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - On day four of the 2015 Louisiana Legislative Session, the Senate Finance Committee is going to pick up looking at Gov. Bobby Jindal's budget plan for the next fiscal year.
Lawmakers must decide what to do about the $1.6 billion shortfall that's looming. While that decision might not come for a couple weeks, it is known they're talking specifically about higher education in that budget plan.
They're going to discuss higher education and potentially hundreds of millions of dollars in possible cuts.
They will also look at healthcare, especially the LSU hospitals public/private partnership. Healthcare, of course, is the only other area where cuts can be made to balance the budget.
