THIBODAUX, LA (WAFB) -

After a concerned citizen called the Thibodaux Police Department about a suspicious person, a homeless man was arrested for felony theft.

Just after 7 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to the 1200 block of Henry Schuyler Thibodaux Street. When they arrived, police saw James Meyers, 40, try to hide four hubcaps under his shirt that he had just stolen from decommissioned police vehicles that are kept on city property in the area, according to the police report.

Police say Meyers confessed to police that he stole the hubcaps, claiming he was going to sell them to a buyer.

Police learned that Meyers had previously been convicted two times for felony theft, once in 2009 and once in 2010. Police also learned that Meyers was arrested in March 2015 for theft of goods.
