BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators made an arrest Tuesday in a murder case from almost 25 years ago.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office reported Woodrow Harrell, 65, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Leonardo Noriega, 57.
Noriega's body was found at his home on Skylark Street on Dec. 9, 1992, but detectives said they believe he was killed about a week before being discovered.
He was beaten to death. Autopsy results showed the victim died from massive head trauma from a blunt instrument. His skull was crushed.
Deputies added they believe the murder stemmed from an earlier robbery the previous year.
In addition to the murder charge, Harrell is also charged with aggravated burglary.
The arrest warrant states Harrell started "telling people about the crime because it had been on his mind and bothering him for 21 years."
According to documents, Edward Belin, now 54, was previously arrested in the case.
