BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - An explosion set off a one-alarm house fire in a Baton Rouge neighborhood on Thursday morning.
Firefighters were called to the scene on Major Oak Drive about 10:45 a.m.
The home owner told investigators that the fire was started when a burning piece of rope fell to the home's garage floor. The rope continued to burn near a gas can, eventually causing an explosion that started a fire near the back of the garage.
Responders were able to get the fire under control in about 40 minutes, but not before it was able to do $85,000 worth of fire and smoke damage to the home.
