Heavy rains cause problems on area roads and waterways

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The National Weather Service reported there are stalled vehicles on LA 1 in White Castle due to flooding.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office reported the following road closures:

Burnside Avenue in Gonzales - One lane closed in both directions in front of post office and Williamson Eye Center

Ringer Street at Orice Roth Road in Gonzales

South Southwood in Gonzales

South Meadowood in Gonzales

LA 73 at the Eatel Substation

St. Patrick Street Overpass in Donaldsonville

Catalpa and West 9th Street in Donaldsonville

St. Patrick to the 700 Block in Donaldsonville

Mississippi Street from St. Patrick Street to Lee Street in Donaldsonville

Westlake/Charleston (East Bank)

Drivers are urged to avoid those areas if possible.

The following road closures were also reported in Thibodaux:

1200 block of St. Charles Street (fallen tree)

Canal Boulevard in front of Stark Complex (Thibodaux Police Department)

Jackson Street at St. Mary

Plater Drive

Louise Street

7th Street at Jackson Street

Rienzi Extension between St. Patrick and Canal Boulevard

St. Charles Street between Pecan and Canal Boulevard

Eagle Drive

Canal Boulevard at School Street

Midland Drive

Canal at Talbot Avenue

9:30 a.m. - "No Wake Zone" is in effect for all homes, camps, etc. on Belle River and Pierre Part Bay.

9:10 a.m. - DOTD reports there is heavier than normal morning congestion on I-10 West from the I-10/12 merge to Dalrymple due to a very slow moving tractor trailer.

8:15 a.m. - DOTD reports congestion on I-10 West from LA 73 in Prairieville to Highland Road due to weather.

7:30 a.m. - DOTD reports all lanes are now open on I-10 West at Acadian. Delays remain to Bluebonnet on I-10 and Drusilla on I-12.

6:50 a.m. - DOTD reports the two left lanes are now blocked I-10 West past College due to an accident recovery. Congestion remains to Essen Lane on I-10 and I-12 West.

6:40 a.m. - DOTD reports left lane remains blocked I-10 West past College due to an accident. Congestion has now reached Essen on both I-10 West and I-12 West.

6:26 a.m. - One lane remains blocked on I-10 West at Acadian. Backups remain to I-10/I-12 merge.

6:22 a.m. - DOTD reports I-10 West is closed at Acadian due to crash.

6:00 a.m. - Police are working an injury crash on I-10 West at Acadian. Traffic is backed up before the I-10/I-12 merge.

5:45 a.m. - Crews removing a 20-foot tree from Renninger Road at Caraway in Livingston Parish. It is north of Denham Springs and east of the Amite River.

5:30 a.m. - Baton Rouge Metro Airport reports 1.5 mile visibility due to fog.

5:00 a.m. - The ferry is not running. Plaquemine/Sunshine boat is parked right now due to fog in Iberville Parish.

4:05 a.m. - All lanes are open on I-10 East at Washington Street.
