ST. MARY PARISH, LA (WAFB) - The wife and family of a former St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Deputy donated 12 hand held metal detectors to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office to be used at its law enforcement center.
Broussard began a career in law enforcement in 1988 after retiring from working at a prominent car dealership in Franklin. Later that year, he graduated from the Peace Officer Standards and Training Academy under the administration of Sheriff Huey P. Bourgeois. He later took on a supervisory role at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
"The donation will aid jail staff in their daily security duties," says Sheriff Mark Hebert. "Broussard's memory lives on at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office as deputies work to exemplify the dedication to criminal justice Broussard and others like him demonstrated during their many years of service in law enforcement."
