PONCHATOULA, LA (WAFB) - The 44th annual Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival has taken over Memorial Park.
The festival is free and open to the public, and prides itself on raising money for non-profits and other charities. This is evident, because non-profits and charities are the only vendors allowed on festival grounds.
While the organizers say that a lot of the festival has passed by, but there is still time to enjoy the rest of the festival.
"On Sunday we have our Strawberry Strut, it's a one mile fun run, 5k and 10k, and then on the grounds we have all kind of bands," says festival representative Shelly Matherne, "We have the egg toss and sack races as well as the strawberry eating contest."
Early registration is closed, but race-goers will be able to register at the race site at Ponchatoula Junior High. More information can be found HERE.
