JEANERETTE, LA (WAFB) - A 22-year-old police officer that was killed during a high speed chase was laid to rest on Saturday.

Officer Juandre Gilliam died after attempting to make a traffic stop on Wednesday morning. When the car sped off, Gilliam set out to pursue the suspect.
During the chase, Officer Gilliam lost control of his police car, ran off the left side of the road and hit a cement culvert. He was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle as it began to flip. Troopers have yet to determine why he lost control.

Gilliam is survived by his wife and two sons.

57-year-old Clint Rogers was arrested and charged with criminal mischief related to this case, and 21-year-old Antre Joseph was charged with manslaughter and aggravated flight from an officer.
