CARVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

Two men are safe at home after being rescued when their boat sank on the Mississippi River. The entire incident was caught on camera.

Witnesses said the men were fishing for catfish Wednesday, but their boat became overloaded with fish causing the boat to sink.

The two fishermen were left helpless in the water and swam to a nearby barge. One of the men managed to climb on the barge, the other was left dangling for life on a wire.

Thomas Roy and his crew happened to be passing by on their boat. They spotted the two men and helped to safety.

"Within in one more hour hypothermia would have set in and he would have let go of that wire and sucked would have been under the rack," said Roy.

Roy said the man who was in the water was airlifted to a local hospital and was said to be okay. Roy was told the fishermen had 4,000 lbs of catfish on the boat before it went under water.
