BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff to honor two Baton Rouge community icons who died during the week.
Mayor Holden says he is honoring important Baton Rouge Rev. Gardner C. Taylor, and J.B. Olinde. Taylor was a key figure in the Civil Rights movement, and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
J.B. Olinde was he former president of B. Olinde and Sons, Inc, which is a local furniture retail store. Olinde was a veteran of World War II and a graduate from LSU's law center.
The order will go into effect April 10, 2015.
