DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) -

A 12-member jury found Jason Wesley Holcombe, of Denham Springs, guilty of second degree murder Thursday. Holcombe was convicted of shooting his roommate in the chest after he was asked to move out.

The shooting happened on May 10, 2014 in the 9900 block of Spur Road in Denham Springs just after 6 p.m.

When Deputies arrived on the scene, they found Joshua Thomason, 30, dead from a gunshot wound.

Holcombe ran from the scene after the shooting, but was captured the next day around 9 a.m.

A tip led LPSO Detectives directly to Holcombe's location at the Linder Road location where he was found.

The four people who were present at the time of the murder testified to what they witnessed during the two day trial.

It took the jury less than 2 hours to determine Holcombe was guilty. A second degree murder conviction carries a mandatory life sentence. Sentencing is scheduled for May 21, 2015, said District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux.

A few visitors learned to never turn their back on a tiger. Fortunately, this tiger was in an enclosed space.
