BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge hotels and Keep Baton Rouge Beautiful are taking on a massive volunteer war on litter.
"It affects economic development, tourism, and our neighborhood," said Gwen Emick, Director of Keep BR Beautiful. It affects some of the crime in our neighborhood, and we're working to prevent that."
"There's also a map that gives you the listing of airports to Siegen Lane," said Ralph May with BR Lodging Association.
On Saturday, May 16 from 8:30 to 11 a.m., volunteers will get together to pick up litter at different locations from the Baton Rouge Metro Airport to Siegen Lane. People are asked to wear a red shirt for Red Stick.
The idea is to clean up the hotel corridor and leave a beautiful impression on visitors. Mayor Kip Holden even declared May 16th Showcase and Serve Day for the clean-up campaign. Anyone interested in taking part can sign up with Keep Baton Rouge Beautiful.
