Freshman Austin Bain 'most likely' moves into starting pitcher's role for LSU baseball

RAW: Mainieri talks about series win at Alabama and upcoming games

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The LSU baseball team is making a change to its weekend pitching rotation after the Tigers' sweep of Alabama over the weekend.

Dutchtown freshman Austin Bain received the news that he's most likely been elevated to a Sunday starter's role after brilliant relief work against Alabama.

Saturday's six and two-thirds scoreless innings and career-high nine strikeouts earned him SEC Freshman of the Week.

Bain said he's excited about the prospect of starting at Alex Box Stadium against Auburn.
