BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Thousands converged onto downtown Baton Rouge for the 5k Color Run.
Organizers estimate six to seven thousand people laced up and took part in the 5k. This marks the third time that the Color Run has come to Baton Rouge.
Runners start off with a clean white shirt, and are splattered with color, powder, glitter and even confetti as they make their way through the race. Organizers say that the primary goal is to show the world how fun exercise can be.
"For a lot of them, this is their first 5K ever in the world." Says Color Run Organizer, Geoff Holt, "That's what we're going for. To promote happiness, confidence, and healthiness."
The Color Run, also known as the Happiest 5K on the planet, is based in Salt Lake City, Utah. That hasn't stopped the organizers from including towns all over the country from participating. Lafayette and Shreveport will also take part in the festivities at a later date.
