BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Louisiana lawmaker has prefiled a bill that will likely stir some controversy in the coming weeks.
Republican Mike Johnson of Bossier City filed his religious freedom bill Friday at the State Capitol.
The bill is similar to the one in Indiana and Arkansas and would ban the state from penalizing people who deny service to people based on their beliefs on marriage.
Gay rights organization Equality Louisiana says the bill would legally allow people to discriminate against the LGBT community.
Both sides will present their arguments during the regular legislative session which begins April 13th.
