BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Downtown leaders are excited about recent street changes meant to ease traffic flow into and out of downtown Baton Rouge.
St. Louis Street from Third Street at North Boulevard to Nicholson Drive is now a two-way street, and St. Ferdinand is also now a two-way street.
"For things like today we have a concert - Live After Five. One can easily exit the interstate go convention to 4th, take a left, and you can go right into the garage there so there are a lot of ways into the garage. Three now opposed to one," Davis Rhorer said.
Davis is the director of the Downtown Development District and says there have been some growing pains.
"What my engineering planters have told me give it about another week or two and people will start adjusting because again you have 19 different entrances and exits into downtown besides the interstate there's a lot of alternatives people are so used to a pattern they don't realize that one street over can be so much quicker coming in from the south," Rhorer said.
This effort is meant to better connect downtown to nearby areas as well.
