BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Parish School System has a new superintendent as the board unanimously voted to hire Warren Drake.
Drake will replace outgoing superintendent Dr. Bernard Taylor. He will officially take over when Taylor's contract expires at the end of June.
Drake told 9News that he knows this is the biggest challenge of his career.
"Every job I've had is a challenge, but I don't shy away from challenges," said Drake. "In fact, I embrace them, and I just think that a challenge is something that gives us all that more energy to really find a way to make things better than they are."
Drake went so far as to say that the improved schools will be so excellent that people will want to move their children back into public schools.
Drake was selected as the lone finalist for the position last month. He was the superintendent of statewide top-ranked Zachary School System.
