BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden announced his entrance into an association that he hopes will give exposure to new French speaking markets.
Mayor Holden joined the North American network of the International Association of Francophone Mayors. He hopes that the association, who recently held a meeting in Lafayette for their first time in the United States, will help the capitol city reconnect with its French roots.
"We are Baton Rouge," says Mayor Holden, "one of nine U.S. capital cities with French names, because our roots are French, too."
Holden plans to invite mayors in the association to Baton Rouge to introduce them to area businesses, schools, and universities.
