BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police are investigating a hit and run crash that sent a pregnant woman to the hospital Wednesday night.
It happened on Geronimo Street in Baton Rouge around 10:45 p.m. The pregnant woman was rushed to the hospital. Investigators said she suffered moderate injuries.
Police say the woman was released from the hospital Thursday afternoon and add that the baby is fine.
Witnesses said the victim was run over three times after an argument. Police said the incident was "domestic."
"Her head cracked and blood was all over the ground and her stomach is all scarred up," a witness said. "And she's pregnant. All her belly is scarred all over."
The witness, who asked not to be identified, added that the victim was in an argument with the suspect over a man.
The woman in the vehicle that hit the victim left the scene. Police said they do not have a suspect in custody and have not issued any arrest warrants yet, but the suspect will be charged with attempted second-degree murder when caught.
The investigation is ongoing.
