NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFB) - Law enforcement agencies across the region are searching for a suspected murderer who escaped custody Tuesday morning while being transported to another facility.
Louisiana State Police reported Lorenzo Conner, 24, of New Orleans, jumped out of a van on Tulane Avenue near Carrollton Avenue in New Orleans. He was being driven from a mental facility in East Feliciana Parish to the Orleans Parish Prison.
Conner is facing second-degree murder charges in connection with a killing that happened in May 2012. He should be considered dangerous.
People living in the area where the escape happened are wondering how he could have eluded authorities for this long.
Investigators said he was possibly wearing a sweatshirt or a white shirt when he got away. They are warning residents to take every precaution to stay safe, even the simple things, like locking doors and windows.
Crime Stoppers is offering up to $2,500 for information that leads to his capture and arrest. Call 504-822-1111 to give your tips.
