BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A run-off between current metro councilman Buddy Amoroso and former councilman Darrell Ourso highlight's a spring election in South Louisiana.
The two are battling to become the state Representative for district 66. Results from the primary were close, as only 35 votes separated the two.
The seat that covers the Southeast part of East Baton Rouge opened up when former Representative Hunter Greene was elected to be a family court judge in Baton Rouge.
Also on the ballot in our area, Sheriff Mike Cazes hopes that voters will approve a half-cent sales tax increase in West Baton Rouge that would bump the sales tax to 9.5%, saying that he would need to reduce services and programs without the tax.
Lastly, voters in Gonzales will decide the fate of their city council, filling in the seat of recalled councilman Timothy Vessel.
