BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A family that moved into home just two months ago after being homeless finds itself once again without a place to live because of a house fire Wednesday evening.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported the fire happened on Alliquippa Street near Navajo Street around 5:45 p.m.
Investigators have not yet determined what caused the fire, but they said it was unintentional and foul play is not suspected.
Mark Miles with BRFD said firefighters reported seeing flames shooting from the front of the house when they arrived at the home. He added the family of four made it out safely and no injuries were reported.
According to Miles, it only took about five minutes to get the fire under control. However, the home has significant fire and smoke damage.
The Red Cross responded to help the family.
