BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Family and friends gathered Wednesday evening to remember a life cut short by violence.

A vigil was held on North 30th Street in Baton Rouge for Idalis Smith, 18, who was found shot to death in her home last Friday.

Community members from across the area attended the event to celebrate her life.

"We still want to touch her and we still want to feel her and we still want to call her and we miss her so much so," said Candice Orji, a relative of the victim. "We're doing this so she knows how much we really love her, that she knows her family truly loved her and her family going to truly miss her forever."

Two people have been arrested in connection with Smith's death.

Quintin Thomas, 26, is charged with first-degree murder and his girlfriend, Victoria Guillory, 23, is accused of accessory after the fact.

Detectives continue to investigate the shooting.
