BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

An man accused of pointing a gun at a victim's head and stealing his money and vehicle was caught near the vehicle shortly after the robbery occurred.

The probable cause affidavit from the Baton Rouge Police Department states an officer was on patrol in the 4400 block of Maple Street when he saw 30-year-old Derrick Camel and another man walking away from the stolen vehicle.

When the officer stopped to talk with Camel and the other man, he noticed Camel had socks on his hands and was in possession of both the face plate for the vehicle's stereo and the vehicle's battery.

Police say Camel initially lied about his name to conceal his identity from officers.

The victim of the armed robbery says Camel approached him, pointed a gun at him and demanded his money and vehicle.

Camel was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
