Senior Chris Sciambra made the most of his first game as the Tigers' leadoff man this season, smashing a three-run triple and adding a fourth RBI to back the pitching of Alex Lange in LSU's 16-3 win over Arkansas Friday night in Fayetteville.
Lange followed his 13 strikeout performance against Ole Miss with seven solid innings, allowing just three hits and one run. The freshman who won national honors this week walked two and fanned six, working his way out of a fourth inning bases-loaded jam with nobody out to escape with a 4-1 lead.
Jared Foster was 3-for-4 with three RBI and slammed a long two-run home run, his fourth of the season, into the left field seats to make it 10-1 in the top of the seventh, after Sciambra's bases-loaded triple had given Lange an 8-1 cushion in the fifth. Andrew Stevenson added four hits, including two in a six-run ninth inning explosion. Mark Laird and Kade Scivicque each went 3-for-5.
LSU (20-3, 3-2) finished the night with 21 hits to even the series, after Arkansas (11-10, 1-4) won Friday night 5-1. The deciding game is scheduled for 2:00 Saturday.
