BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Parish Public School Board's vote was unanimous. The only finalist for new School Board Superintendent is the former superintendent of top-ranked Zachary schools.
The board convened at a special meeting Wednesday night to narrow down the list of candidates for superintendent. They huddled to consider the 10 candidates and then came back to announce their choice.
The board is choosing a replacement for Dr. Bernard Taylor, whose contract expires in June.
The next step for Warren Drake is a huge question and answer session next week when everyone gets a shot at grilling him.
"Once the Board is finished asking their questions, the community will have an opportunity to come to an open mic and ask Mr. Drake questions with regard to whatever they want," said David Tatum, the EBR Board President.
After what they call a vetting session, checking out Warren Drake, they'll bring him up for a vote at the next full school board meeting April 2. They expect to approve him, but if they reject him, this whole process starts over again.
