BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Tuesday was a beautiful spring day on Southern's campus, so why not go smash a piano to bits? That is what happened on Southern's campus.

A line formed early for the chance to pick up a sledge hammer and punish an old piano. Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the music fraternity at SU, sponsored the pay to destroy session using pianos.

"I just finished my piano mid-term last week," said Southern music major Kenneth Collins. "And I spent countless hours in the music building at 4 o'clock in the morning, so I have a lot of stress to relieve and I will be gladly hit the piano."

People paid $1 per hit or $3 for five hits. Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is celebrating 50 years on the Southern campus and will use the money raised for a gala.
