The LSU Lady Tigers will be dancing again in March, receiving an at-large bid to the 2015 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament Monday night.
Nikki Caldwell's team getting an 11-seed in the Albany Regional to play South Florida in Tampa Saturday at 5:30 Central Time on ESPN2.
This is LSU's fourth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament under Caldwell. It's the 16th appearance for the Lady Tigers over the last 17 seasons since 1999. Overall, LSU has had 24 NCAA Tournament bids, tying them for sixth most among the other 64 teams playing in the 2015 tourney.
The Lady Tigers (17-13, 10-6 SEC) were one of seven SEC teams selected. The Big 10 also had seven teams selected tying the conferences for the second-most bids behind the ACC's eight.
“I'm excited to be playing a very good team in USF,” head coach Nikki Caldwell said. “They have tremendous play in the post and on the perimeter. This time of year, it is anybody's game. I want us to make sure that we are sticking to our game plan, and we are going in there with great intensity and a lot of effort.”
The No. 3 seed in the other half of LSU's bracket is Louisville, which eliminated the Tigers from last year's tournament. They play No. 14 seed BYU at 3 p.m. Saturday. The two winners of those games will meet in the NCAA Second Round on Monday.
