BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - If you drive through downtown Baton Rouge, you've probably already seen cones set up, but Monday, they're being replaced by traffic lights that look like they're facing the wrong way.
St. Louis Street from Third Street at North Boulevard to Nicholson Drive is now a two-way street.
It may be a headache for many, but the cones and soon the lights will help traffic flow smoothly.
This is part of an ongoing effort by city officials to not only help traffic move better through downtown, but to connect downtown to nearby areas as well.
This is just the first phase of a number of projects that will help ease traffic in the area.
Next Monday, another street, St. Ferdinand, which is just one block over from St. Louis, will also be turned into a two-way street.
Be aware of the changes. Officials hope everyone works with the projects as they roll out.
