HOUMA, LA (WAFB) - A teenager was arrested after he was caught snorting a white powdery substance on his school desk during class.
Houma police say they arrested 18-year-old Joseph Caletri at Terrebone High School after he was seen with a rolled up $1 bill snorting the powdery substance on his desk in class.
The incident occured Friday morning, and when school officials approached Caletri, he became "very disrespectful and irate", according to Houma police chief Todd M. Duplantis.
Caletri attempted to run away from officials and had to be physically restrained. Authorities say that he elbowed the Assistant Principal in the lip.
Officials say that after the incident, officers with a K-9 unit searched the suspect's car and found what is suspected to be marijuana.
Caletri was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Jail and booked on charges of battery of a school teacher, possession of marijuana, and possession of narcotics on school property.
