LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Leaders from across Livingston Parish got together Wednesday to address what was happening in the parish at the annual State of Parish Address & Mayor's Update.

Mayors from around the parish held a forum to update residents on different projects in the works including more groundbreaking in Denham Springs and a new housing development building in Walker.

Parish President Layton Ricks also discussed the new round of openings at Juban Crossing. He talked about some improvements around the parish like railroads, bridges and roads that have been a priority for several departments.

"It's got to be about a team effort. Can't be solo anymore in our parish. We're growing too fast, got too much going on for it to be that way. Got to work together as best we can," said Ricks.

Ricks also talked about the 2.5 mills health unit tax on the ballot this May. A previous version was voted down in November. Ricks said that money supports the parish WIC program, sanitation inspections of restaurants and general care of residents.
