BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The National Weather Service extended a flash flood watch for southeast Louisiana and parts of southwest Mississippi to Friday.

The watch was initially scheduled to end Thursday evening, but early Wednesday morning forecasters indicated it would remain in effect until Friday evening. Localized totals of five inches or more are possible through the end of the week.

The following parishes in Louisiana fall under the watch area:

Ascension

Assumption

East Baton Rouge

East Feliciana

Iberville

Livingston

Pointe Coupee

St. Charles

St. Helena

St. James

St. John the Baptist

Tangipahoa

West Baton Rouge

West Feliciana

It also includes the following Mississippi counties:

Amite

Hancock

Harrison

Pearl River

Pike

Walthall

Wilkinson

Forecasters said heavy rainfall is expected over parts of the Gulf Coast as moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will remain over the region while a few disturbances move through the area.

They added it will create a scenario for repeated and prolonged heavy rainfall through Friday.

A few visitors learned to never turn their back on a tiger. Fortunately, this tiger was in an enclosed space.
