BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Southern University celebrated its 135th Founders' Day with several big events.
Southern officials held an official dedication of the old president's house in memory of longtime Alumni President Donald Wade. This is the first chance people had to see the completely remodeled building that has been closed since it was damaged by a storm more than 4 years ago.
"When you walk into this house and the remodeling and the memorial rooms, you will leave with a smile. The university has done a marvelous job for this day. I am blessed," said Dr. Beverly Wade, wife of Donald Wade.
The Southern Marching Band also performed on campus.
Founders' Day concluded with an invitation only dinner honoring faculty and staff who have worked for the university for 20 years or more.
