BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The 2015 Cinderella Project Giveaway is happening on Sunday, March 15th from 12 to 5 p.m. at the A.C. Lewis YMCA on South Foster Drive in Baton Rouge. Director, LeJeanne Harris, says students with a valid high school ID can show up to get free dresses, shoes and assistance from not only the Cinderella Project, but No Glass Slippers and Jess' Bra Closet.
"It's becoming more and more expensive," Harris said when talking about the financial burden prom can be on local families. "So many of the girls are having someone to do their makeup for them…the hair styling. The dresses are so expensive as well as the shoes."
The Cinderella Project helps hundreds of local high school students attend prom every year. Organizers are taking donations through Wednesday, March 11th at locations like Appletree Storage on Perkins Road in Baton Rouge.
"The girls' faces make all of this work worthwhile," Harris said.
While the girls wait in line on Sunday, they will also have the opportunity to win free hair and makeup services, along with a variety of other door prizes. More information can be found on their website:
