Casting call seeks real oil workers for 'Deepwater Horizon' film

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The "Deepwater Horizon" film starring Mark Wahlberg wants to cast real oil workers as extras over the next few months.

Central Casting Louisiana sent out a casting call that is looking for experienced oil riggers. They are also calling for anyone with Coast Guard or Merchant Marine experience.

The movie is based on an article that covered the 2010 oil rig explosion that killed 11 people, injured 17 others and spilled oil into the Gulf of Mexico for several months. The article ran in the New York Times and was written by David Barstow, David Rohde and Stephanie Saul.

Shooting is set to run from May through August.

Anyone interested is asked to submit their name, phone number, city and details about experience, including previous job title or rank, to DEEPWATER@CENTRALCASTING.COM.
