Couple assaulted and robbed by woman's family members

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge Sheriff Deputies arrested a man who helped two brothers rob and attack their sister and another victim on Thursday, February 26.

According to reports, a male and female victim were sitting in a car in the parking lot of 1809 Jade Avenue when four men in a white Chevrolet Impala pulled up and blocked them from leaving.

Courtney Lewis and the female victim's two brothers exited their vehicle and proceeded to assault the two victims while they were still sitting inside the car.

The woman sustained a blow to the head while the man was dragged from the car and beaten unconscious. When EMS arrived on the scene, they observed the male victim sustained "obvious" trauma to his face, including a gash on his lip. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was diagnosed with a concussion.

During the incident, the sister's infant son was flipped over while still strapped into his car seat.

The suspects left with the both victims' cellphone and $1,200 that belonged to the man. Lewis was identified by both victims as one of the suspects in the attack.

Lewis was arrested and charged with second degree robbery, simple robbery, second degree battery, simple battery, and cruelty to a juvenile.
